We’re excited to host a special networking event, Have Your Cake and Eat It Too, right here at Hickory Villa on Thursday, February 22nd, from 4:00-5:30PM. In addition to enjoying some sweet treats (which everyone deserves in the middle of winter), visitors will have the chance to meet and mingle with our senior care professionals, including our Executive Director Cecil Wissink and our Health Services Director, Amber Streittmatter, LPN.
We hope you’ll join us and find out more about our mission of inspired service—and what we’re doing to make an impact on our residents, their families, and the community we serve. Here’s a little bit about Amber, and what she enjoys most about our senior living community.
Amber Streittmatter remembers visiting a resident at the hospital who just really wanted to return to Hickory Villa.
“She received the biggest heartfelt homecoming from the staff and other residents, and I knew then I had come to the right place to begin a career,” Amber said. Soon thereafter, the resident passed on peacefully. That’s part of what Amber loves about working with Hickory Villa: that residents feel at home here.
“Bethesda Senior Living Communities is a wonderful choice for an assisted living facility. The staff are great in meeting your loved ones needs and making them feel as if they are part of an extended family,” she said.
BSLC staff believe in “inspired service.” For Amber that means “providing care and leadership that results in positive outcomes.” That’s important because Amber knows families and residents count on her every day.
For those researching assisted living communities, Amber advises starting to visit as early as possible. “The earlier you start to look for a higher level of care, the better. Moving and change is hard for most people, but being able to transition a loved one before dementia or other comorbidities progress will help to lessen the trauma for that resident. Assisted living is such a wonderful transition from independent living.”
At Hickory Villa Assisted Living, we offer 24-hour care in our warm and intimate community, located in the heart of south central Omaha. We are a faith-based assisted living community, which means everyone here is devoted to the social, spiritual and physical health of our residents.
To learn more about Hickory Villa and visit with Amber, come to our "Have Your Cake and Eat It Too” event, a celebration of delectable desserts and a chance to meet industry professionals. Amber explained favorite dessert is strawberry wedding cake. “It is gluten free and you cannot even tell — plus it is so beautiful to look at.”
